The Accountant at the Window

Ron from Accounting is an anthropomorphic blue-furred lop bunny with drooping ears, swooped reddish-brown hair, oversized round glasses, a white button-up with a black tie, and permanently tired eyes. He carries a black briefcase stamped “TOP SECRET” in red - the twin of Dr. Harlow’s. He works in the Animal Corporation’s accounting department, he is not an anomaly, and per Dr. Harlow, “From Accounting” is literally his last name. His opening line sets his whole tone: “You ever wonder why they keep hiring new people? …Never mind.”

First Visit and Return Pattern

Ron first appears between Shifts 2 and 3, then keeps dropping by as a patient or visitor throughout the run, complaining about his workload and dripping lore one encounter at a time. He suffers constant headaches - Dr. Harlow confirms they come from the crushing amount of paperwork he processes, which is why he visits the hospital so often and why he “needs to get treated” before meetings with his furious BOSS. The Journal pays 5 coins for meeting him and 10 more for his final encounter. Two mechanical quirks worth knowing: like Ratthew, Ron cannot faint and cannot be targeted by anomalies other than the Bed Monster, and if Ratthew is killed by a wrong treatment, Ron stops coming for the rest of the run.

What His Encounters Give You

Ron is the closest thing the game has to a walking survival manual. Treat him correctly (a wrong treatment kills story characters and counts as a patient death) and his visits pay out in information:

• The Oingit story. He witnessed the previous manager, a monkey named Oingit, get eaten by the Bed Monster - and was baffled that everyone was told to forget it. That is why he always carries maple syrup, the item that pacifies the creature.
• The infection reveal. He tells you outright that the patients are not sick - they are infected.
• Enemy tips. He recalls the Mass of Eyes staring from the ceiling (the previous doctor scrambled for eyedrops, then disappeared), and explains the Stalker appears in the corner of your eye, hates being looked at, and is actually shy.
• Housekeeping intel. The hospital’s old files were moved about a month before the game’s events.

Where He Fits in the Lore

Ron embodies what the Animal Corporation does to its people. Dr. Harlow calls him one of the corporation’s longest-standing employees but “not all that loyal” - just numb. He theorizes about the company openly with you, shrugs when Ratthew chews through classified experiment reports in his office (“honestly did me a favor”), yet carefully avoids learning more than he must. He and Ratthew act like frenemies: Ratthew calls him a nerd, Ron only ever calls him “that rat,” and although Ratthew is wanted by the Corporation, Ron shows zero interest in turning him in - though he does complain to Dr. Harlow about the break-ins before shuffling off to his own inaccessible office door in the waiting room. His testimony about Oingit, and the interviewer’s chilling instruction to forget it, is some of the strongest evidence that the hospital’s anomaly problem is manufactured and covered up. One ironic footnote from the wiki: despite the maple syrup boast, the Bed Monster can still grab Ron in-game like anyone else.
